CableAmerica has been operating cable television systems since 1971. The original cable television operation began in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, growing out of an electronic equipment business owned by the principals of CableAmerica serving the Upper Midwest states. The company remains in the ownership of the original principals which insures quality customer service and technical proficiency that the company is known for.

The company has a long history of technical innovations, from the purchase of the first 5-meter Scientific Atlanta satellite signal receiver dish (Serial Number 0000001) to the use of microwave and later fiber optics to traverse great distances and improve picture quality. CableAmerica also created one of the first dedicated medical networks “mednet” in conjunction with Teledyne Brown Engineering in Huntsville, Alabama and was the first broadband company to deploy High Speed Internet to Mesa, Arizona.
