The following are the minimum PC requirements for CableAmerica Broadband Service.
IBM & Compatible PCs
- Pentium 200 MHZ processor or faster
- 32 Megabytes of RAM
- Windows 95 OS or newer
- Web Browser, i.e. Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator*
Macintosh (Apple) Computers
- PowerPC 80 MHZ processor or better
- 16 Megabytes of RAM ( 32 recommended )
- Mac OS 7.5.3 or higher
- Web Browser, i.e. Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator*

CableAmerica does not provide additional software for these services. Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, and most web browsers will work on the CableAmerica network. In addition any Email Client such as Microsoft Outlook Express and Netscape Communicator should work although Technical Support for Email Clients is limited to Microsoft and Netscape products.

Most DOCSIS 1.0 compatible cable modems should work on our network however this is not always the case.
We have had good success with some cable modems while others perform poorly. If you are purchasing a cable modem, check for the
CableLabs Certified logo.

The coaxial cable is run to a cable modem, which is connected to your computer via a Network Interface Card (NIC) or Universal Serial Bus (USB) port.

CableAmerica is your complete ISP therefore no other services are required. However, if you decide to retain your old e-mail services they can be accessed through our CableAmerica network. Many services, such as AOL, are greatly enhanced by CableAmerica's speed. This benefit comes from using a LAN (Local Area Network) connection between your computer and the service provider via CableAmerica.

CableAmerica will provide service to one computer, however you are able to connect multiple computers to the cable modem using either a networking switch (hub) or broadband router. Any additional computers added to the service will be the responsibility of the customer. Additional charges may apply, call for details.

CableAmerica Broadband Service delivers content directly to your personal computer via coaxial cable and a cable modem. Broadband Internet allows you to navigate the World Wide Web at blazing speeds.
DSL, or Digital Subscriber Line, is a modem technology that transforms ordinary phone lines (also known as "twisted copper pairs") into high-speed digital lines for Internet access. You must have a DSL modem and live within a certain distance of your telephone company's central office to get DSL Internet service.

Currently CableAmerica uses DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), which assigns a non-routable IP address to your computer. CableAmerica does offer Routable IP addresses for as part of an enhanced service. Please call us for more information regarding Routable IP addresses.

Yes, simply configure your e-mail with our CableAmerica POP server settings and you can access your CableAmerica e-mail from anywhere. You can also access your email from any Internet connection through a website customized for your service area.

CableAmerica does not offer any Parental Control Software or Internet content filtering, we do however recognize the importance of keeping your children safe while browsing online.
There are several companies that specialize in content filtering. They actively search for sites with questionable content and maintain a list of these sites. If you use their software sites that belong to their list cannot be access unless you allow it. You can also add your own sites that you wish filtered. Some of these companies include:

Professionally trained technicians will complete the installation process, including all wiring, installation of the cable modem, ethernet card (USB) if necessary, and verify the service is working. If no data outlet is present, additional charges may apply. The entire process normally takes two hours. Not all addresses are serviceable, so please check the serviceability in your area first.
